Inflation monitor: Côte d'Ivoire at 2.4% as price pressures stay contained
The latest reading shows consumer price growth moderating — the key input for the BCEAO ahead of its next rate decision on 2 September 2026.
Consumer price inflation in Côte d'Ivoire stands at 2.4% year on year in the latest reading tracked by CBAN, easing from 2.8% in the prior reading.
The moderation gives the Central Bank of West African States more room for manoeuvre around its 3.25% policy rate. Across African consumer price baskets, food and non-alcoholic beverages typically carry the largest weight, followed by housing, utilities and transport — which is why harvests and fuel prices move headline inflation more here than in advanced economies.
Currency dynamics feed directly into the outlook. The West African CFA franc trades near 605 to the dollar, up 1.1% this year — a tailwind that dampens imported inflation.
Real GDP growth is running at around 6.4%, and official reserves stand near $15.2 billion. The next scheduled BCEAO rate decision is 2 September 2026.
